Having trouble finding info on this. Will consult my colleagues and get back to you
Hey apologies for the delay. I did find a way to preemptively turn off tax for customers: https://stripe.com/docs/tax/zero-tax#exempt-customers
Would that be helpful to you here or are you always finding this out after the fact? Our support team may know more about how to do this for a purchase that this has already happened for if you are trying to find this out for a payment that has already happened https://support.stripe.com/?contact=true
Find help and support for Stripe. Our support center provides answers on all types of situations, including account information, charges and refunds, and subscriptions information. Get your questions answered and find international support for Stripe.
This is helpful for sure but we're trying to understand our options after the fact. I'll reach out to customer support but since we haven't enabled Tax yet we're not going to have a payment to provide to them.
It might be worth making some test payments to see if you are able to unblock yourself or (at the very least) be able to ask questions about specific tax behavior as it pertains to a test payment. As Pompey said: support will likely be your best bet for getting answers, but having a bit of testing to go off of will also help
