Are you using a SetupIntent? If so, $0 amount is expected as there's no amount that we're charging while saving. Do you have the screenshot of what the customer saw?

I've not heard of many reports around the bank not allowing to put in the code for $0 amounts.

With a SetupIntent, there's really no amount that we're charging to the payment method. However, there's an authorization that takes place before we can store the payment method.

Since we're not charging the payment method anything (there's no amount), the bank may show $0 as the amount.

If let's say the authorization was for a payment intent then the bank would show the amount accordingly. i.e. if the PaymentIntent amount was $10 then bank would show $10 on their page

Yeah that's quite weird. I'd recommend asking them for a screenshot OR a video which can provide complete context.
