Yeah that sounds normal, despite you won't have back the processing fee on refunding. I would say do a Separate Auth and Capture, Auth first then later on Capture or Cancel

Cool. One more question. I saw in the docs there is an endpoint for verifying microcharges (https://stripe.com/docs/api/setup_intents/verify_microdeposits). I am assuming this is only if payment is done directly through the bank, although I can't seem to find anything about these charges anywhere else. Is this true, and would they be applicable to our scenario?

Microdeposit is only for bank payment method like ACH. Are you using ACH?

If you are using card you don't need to worry about it
