So I see you can update setup_future_usage on the PaymentIntent after creation but I do think there is an easier way to do this. I will reach out to my colleagues, I have a feeling I am missing a setting on the invoice itself

Hey so it is looking like our create invoice call actually does not have a setting to do this. So setting setup_future_usage on the payment intent is the way to tell the invoice to save the payment method. I am not quite sure why that restriction is there but can put in feedback that allowing it would be helpful
