Hi there, I don't quite understand your question, can you walk me through with an example?

unique lantern
#

Sure. Ours is a marketplace. Say, something like Lyft.

Lyft is the company.
We connect public(riders) and taxi drivers

Riders top up their account say for 25$ , 50$ , 75$ and 100$.
It reaches our Stripe connect account.
Then, based on riders usage, we disburse money to taxi drivers.

But taxi drivers have a paypment processor and we can pay using only credit or debit card.

#

So, now we need a card (credit/debit) to pay forward the funds to taxi drivers' payment processor

junior leaf
#

I see, so you want to pay the tax drivers through cards, am I right?

unique lantern
#

yes

junior leaf
#

You can set up a external account with debit card so that you can create payouts and sent the funds to the card

unique lantern
#

Can I send payouts from stripe to clover payments POS?

junior leaf
#

So far Stripe only supports bank accounts and debit cards for payouts.

unique lantern
#

So, what you are suggesting is

Rider ==> My Stripe connect ==> MyExternalBankAccount's Credit card ==> Pay the driver, correct?

junior leaf
#

The ExternalBankAccount's card is essentially your driver's debit card, note that payout supports debit card, not credit card.

unique lantern
#

Ok, here is the problem for which I need a solution.

The party to which I send payout accept payments only via API, and the API is of anohter payment processor.
How can I achieve this?

junior leaf
#

But that's a payments API right? I thought you are doing a payout?

unique lantern
#

I'm not using payments API

#

Rider ==> MyStripeCOnnect ==> <3rd Party POS API which accepts payment only via card not present format>

junior leaf
#

I mean you said it's a 3rd party API accepts payment.

#

So my understanding is that the 3rd-party API is for payment (i.e., pay-in), not payout.

unique lantern
#

Sorry. I'm kinda lost now.

This is what I'm trying to do .

Rider ==> MyStripeConnect ==(send money to driver's Point of Sale)====> < 3rd Party POS API which accepts payment only via "card not present", that 's, card details are key-ed in>

junior leaf
#

Ok. I'll summarize your follow and let me know if I'm wrong.

#
  1. Rider pays you through Stripe
  2. The funds is transferred to the driver's connected account Stripe balance
  3. The funds is transferred from driver's Stripe balance to driver's debit card
  4. You call the 3rd-party payments API to charge the driver's debit card?
unique lantern
#

No.

  1. Riders pay me via Stripe.
  2. Fund reaches MyCompany Stripe.
  3. Driver has a Clover POS. We don't know driver's bank account or card details.

How to send money from MyCompany Stripe to Clover POS?

#

POS = Point of Sale, sorry if I haven't mentioned that.

junior leaf
#

OK. Thanks for the explanation. So the card is not your driver's card.

#

Do you plan to use your company debit card to pay your driver's POS?

unique lantern
#

There is no card here.

Only Riders pay via card

#

That's my question.

#

I was thinking, if there is a card that representing my Stripe account, I can use it to pay driver's POS

junior leaf
#

Exactly, that's what I mean

unique lantern
#

So, Does Stripe provide or assign a card for Stripe account which I can use?

junior leaf
#

You can payout to your debit card, and use that card to pay driver through their POS

#

No, you can just use your own card.

#

In fact you can create virtual card, and feed in the card number to the 3rd-party payment service.

#

So that your flow can be

#
  1. Rider pays you through Stripe
  2. The funds is kept in your Stripe balance
  3. You transfer funds to your issuing balance
  4. Your create a virtual card
  5. Send the virtual card information to the 3rd-party payment service.

Wow. Interesting. How much charges for creating the virtual card? Any limit on that virtual card?

junior leaf
unique lantern
#

How many virtual cards could be created? ANy limits on the number of cards created in particular interval?

#

So, this is the one "issuing"

junior leaf

@unique lantern I need to go, my colleague @toxic drift will continue to help you.

👋 taking over here

unique lantern
#

Thanks Jack

#

You can payout to your debit card, and use that card to pay driver through their POS

  1. You mean, I can payout from Stripe connect to my business account's debit card and then use that card to pay for driver's POS, right?
  2. Can I send payout to my personal debit card and do the same?
toxic drift
#
  1. Not exactly "payout" but more of transferring fund to your Issuing balance link with the Issuing virtual card
  2. No, that's why you need to specific kind of virtual Issuing cards
unique lantern
#

Will virtual cards earn any points ?

toxic drift
#

Not sure about that but I don't think there is points w Issuing virtual card. Could you write in Support? They would be able to advise further on Issuing offer

unique lantern
#

Sure. ANy specific email address?

#

One last question.

#

If I top up that virtual card with 100$, and I don't place request for physical card,

can I key-in that card number and do online ecommerce purchases?

toxic drift
#

I think yes

#

hmm

#

Yes, but please also clarify with Support
