Hi there. How can we help?

Can you summarize?

#

That's not linking me properly

daring leaf
#

Sure

I have a question regarding multi subscription for a customer. At our company we currently sell PRO and BASIC subscription that could be yearly or monthly subscription. Imagine the case of a customer that would pay a BASIC subscription yearly, and would like to upgrade only for a month to PRO account, what the best practice for this? Having two subscriptions on the same customer, one monthly and the other one remaining yearly?

#

Your team adviced us to use Subscription Schedule to resolve such issue.

#

However we have a question regarding the amount those user should pay.

#

From my understanding we need to

#
  1. Cancel they current yearly subscription
#
  1. Create a schedule that have a PRO monthly subscription then a BASIC yearly subscription with a custom end date that takes in account how many days of their previous BASIC yearly account they used
#
  1. They shouldn't pay after the end of their pro monthly subscription since they "already" paid in the first yearly subscription we cancelled
#

Sorry if i'm unclear, this is a bit complex. Do not hesitate to ask more information if needed

Hm yeah am a bit lost. When the customer is on the BASIC yearly and wants to experience the PRO subscription for a month, do you want both subscriptions to be active for that 1 month? Or do you only want the PRO sub active? Just don't know if they're different products entirely or the same product different tiers so to speak.

daring leaf
#

The second option where only the PRO sub is active

#

We would like to keep 1 customer = 1 subscription maximum in our model for simplicity purposes

slender swift
#

I see. And for the month the Basic sub isn't active and the Pro sub is, I assume you'd want to not have the customer charged for that month on Basic (ie credit them back that month off the yearly price)?

#

What we would really like is the following: Customer Bob pays a BASIC yearly plan for 180$. After 6 month he wants to use some features in the PRO plan, he switch for a PRO monthly plan for 30$ (the normal price). He now have access to the PRO features for a month. After this month, he's back to his BASIC yearly plan with 6 month remaining

slender swift
#

Got it. So he won't be credited at all for the month he used pro and didn't use basic? ie. he's still paying the full $180 for that year even though for a month he used the pro features?

daring leaf
#

It's like his basic yearly was on "Pause" sort of

#

Do you have any advice on this situation ?

slender swift
#

I just need to know whether or not you want them charged the full $180. There's ways to credit them $180/12 for just that month they didn't use it

#

Or if you want them to pay the full 180 without being credited for that month they used a different pricing tier

daring leaf
#

Mmm so Bob ALREADY paid 180$ this was done 6month before him wanting to upgrade to PRO

#

Hence I'm not sure to understand your question

slender swift
#

I understand they've already paid, but do you want to credit them $15 (180/12) for the 1 month where they aren't using BASIC and are using PRO instead?

#

Because if they aren't using basic but using pro and you don't credit them it's like they're paying for both basic access and pro access at once

daring leaf
#

What we would prefer to do is change the end subscrption of BASIC to one month later, so it's like the subscription was on pause

slender swift
#

Ah

#

That makes sense

#

One min

daring leaf
#

Sure thank you very much

#

Do you have more info?

slender swift
#

Yeah sorry for the delay

daring leaf
#

Np just checking

slender swift

So a subscription schedule would work here, you're correct. This is exactly right:

1) Cancel they current yearly subscription
2) Create a schedule that have a PRO monthly subscription then a BASIC yearly subscription with a custom end date that takes in account how many days of their previous BASIC yearly account they used
3) They shouldn't pay after the end of their pro monthly subscription since they "already" paid in the first yearly subscription we cancelled```
You might need to apply a discount or negative invoice items to the BASIC phase of the subscription though since they've already paid

Ok seems right

Thank you very much for you rtime
