I believe the name is par of the billing details for the customer which checkout allows customers to add/update.
I don't think there's a way to prefill the name unfortunately.

Also no way to not require it? Since in the US it seems to not ask that info for example

Ah could be, Checkout will attempt to collect as whatever billing information is required to process the payment successfully

If we build checkout using Elements we do not require name I think

yup, using elements gives you granular control over the UI versus checkout 🙂
