Are multiple preauthorizations considered fraudulent?
- You can try to re-auth within the 7 day window although that will generate multiple auth records in the customers record
- For extended auth access you would need to ask support
What's the impact of having mutiple auth records?
That it will show up in the customer's banking or card app.
Once a 7 days preauthorization expires and is not executed, it disappears from user's credit card, correct?
Correct
What happens if we run a preauthorization and users credit card is maxed out?
SO if you timed it right then it might not be an issue, but there's the chance the customer sees two auths
Okay
Let's say user has a credit card of 12k limit
His credit card is full at 11k and we try to run a pre-auth of 2k, what would happen
That I'm not sure about. The issuing bank may assume these are separate charges and decline the second one
Okay okay
And rerunning preauthorization if well timed shouldn't be an issue
this is what you're sayiong
there's no way it can be seen as fraud, correct?
it's. common practice?&
That will be up to the issuing bank
If you are interested in the extended authorizations you should reach out to our Support team as the doc you linked mentions
yes, I am doing it at the moment
but even if we would rerun preauth
let's say user stays 2 months in a property
and we need to rerun 2 preauth of more than 31 days
is there a possibility we're flagged
That isn't something I can help with here. This server is focused on coding integrations with Stripe and my knowledge about fraud flagging is very limited. Your best option is to contact Support here: https://support.stripe.com/contact
Happy to offer what help I can 🙂
