Can Customer Portal also provide the functionality of Checkout session, which is to collect payment? I am using subscription based payments with pre-created packages.

So if a user is not subscribed to any packages so far, can he do it through Customer Portal?

no, that's not possible

#

the customer portal allows you to change plans, or update the payment method

#

but a customer can't subscribe to a new package altogether via the customer portal
