Yeah, you can't really do Connect at 2 levels like that (i.e. access the connected account(s) of a connected account/platform).
Okay, I never worked with custom accounts before, is there a way to setup a custom account so that they have their own logins? Then I can let my user know that each connected account will need to connect to our platform separate
Custom accounts can't connect to multiple platforms. They're restricted to a single platform. Only standard accounts can do that.
So, do you have any suggestions for us as what we can do? Any workarounds? They want to be able to have the payments go to their connected accounts. What can be done as a work around?
To confirm:
- You're a platform that has standard connected accounts.
- They themselves are a platform with custom connected accounts.
- They ask if for you to update your app/platform so that they can process payments on their custom connected accounts via your platform.
Is my understanding correct?
Yes, that is correct.
They connected their platform to our App and then asked for when payment is processed to send the payment to a custom connected account.
They have locations for their retail stores, and each retail store is a custom connected account under their main platform account.
They only connected their main platform account to our App and will have each retail location connect to us, and they wanted for us to add a setting for them to enter their connected account ID for that location so the destination for payment intent is that location.
Yeah the only way 'around' this limitation is if:
- Their primary standard account that is connected to you, performs the transfers to their connected accounts.
- They instead connect the custom accounts directly to you.
how can they connect the custom accounts directly to us? That is what I was trying to see
Well, they can't. They would need to be new accounts.
is there not a way to transfer/convert the custom accounts to standard?
There is not
okay so I may have to work with them so that we just insert the account ID of the custom account as metadata on transaction and they will have to figure out how to transfer .
Is there a fee associated with transferring?
Balance between Stripe accounts? There is not no.
Okay thank you for your time!
np!
If possible please take my issue as feedback internally to development team about connected platforms helping/utilizing other connected platforms accounts (custom, standard, or express)
It would be a great feature to have and can allow new business ideas and innovations
Hi! I'm taking over this thread.
Can you clarify what you mean by "connected platforms helping/utilizing other connected platforms accounts"?
Okay wait here is an idea, can I submit a transfer request on behalf of the connected account to their custom account?
Soma you will have to go back to the thread and read the conversation
Okay wait here is an idea, can I submit a transfer request on behalf of the connected account to their custom account?
I don't think that's possible, but give me a few minutes to try.
It's basically the same fundamentally as what you've already tried (the destination charge), so I'd be surprised
@gloomy ermine okay thanks. Please take this back as feedback to development team to hopefully see how they can implement and allow such features.
For example: I can be a platform that manages other platform accounts. I see potential in this feature and new business ideas coming from this
Yes I can share that feedback internally, but I don't think that's something we plan on doing for now.
