Can you send me the ID of that Checkout Session?

#

You have a place to enable or disable Google Pay, but even though it is disabled, it appears. Is there a way to create a payment link via the API that sells via (A) credit card and (B) ACH, but does NOT ever show Google Pay - ['ACH', 'card'] or does having 'card' as a payment option for Google Pay to show even when I disabled Google Pay as a payment method?

#

Disabling it in your dashboard should accomplish this. Not sure what is happening immediately but can look in to it

Can I just send you the Payment Link and you can click it?

Let me check. Thank you.

curious why you want to disable Google Pay so much? :p

Hey koopahjah.

#

koopahjah, so the benefit to the customer is that they can make a payment link in our app and have lots of flexibility and not just have every enabled payment method appear on the CheckOut. Due to complex logic of each payment type, they may want to make a payment link that only accepts Afterpay and link it to an Afterpay image new to the payment button, for example. Or, I'm trying to demo how they can take ACH so I am saying, you can just take 'card' and 'ACH' but then Google Pay is appearing which just complicates this specific demo where I am saying you can do whatever you want in granular way and pick the payment types you want and encode them via our app into a payment link. No issue in general with Google Pay, but it just messed up my demo since my intention was just to show 2 payment methods, not 3.

#

In general, a customer with a standard Stripe Account should be able to make Payment Links which have the payment methods they want as defined in their account. I am confused why our platform's standard account settings would flow over into defining what is shown on the connected account customer's payment links?

primal hedge
#

ah gotcha so mostly when you control the real paymet methods you want to show, you specifically get thrown off by wallets also appearing

raven tusk
#

yes

because the vast majority of platforms want the complete opposite of what you said and begged us for years to build this. So now as a platform you have a section where you can control what payment method types to support and show on/off by default. You can tweak those settings to let them decide what they want

raven tusk
#

haha. OK, got it!
I think you linked to a page and all I need to do is check that one box and it should work.

primal hedge
#

yep! right now you're configured as "no no no I want to control it all"

#

because some platforms don't want someone to suddenly use SEPA Debit for examples

raven tusk
#

Ahhhhhhhh. OK, send all those SEPA customers to me please and we will listen for when the payment clears for them. hahah. OK. Let me try. ๐Ÿ™‚

primal hedge
#

hahaha

#

but then they get disputes and get their business in trouble and then they will complain to you loudly :p

raven tusk
#

OK. Not sure if I understand but OK. Basically I want to be a resource if someone wants to use a Payment Link but add a delayed payment method since our app can listen for webhooks for them even if they do not know what a server is nor a webhook.

#

OK, it appears to be in review process.

#

Google Pay is still showing up so I'll check back when the review is over. We definitely want our connected standard Stripe accounts to have the most flexibility and make Payment Links using whatever payment methods they want encoded into each Payment Link. That is the feature benefit I am trying to offer.

#

Why does SEPA == disputes?

#

Because it is a delayed payment method?

#

We are a membership plugin so if someone has an online course behind a paywall, I want them to be able to take ACH and we can listen for when the payment clears before unlocking the course. That is the idea. This requires a server. So that is one thing I am trying to do for customers.

bank debits come with their own rules around disputes from consumers and don't have a path to "contest" them like you can with cards. They are by definition riskier payment methods and fraud can turn your business into a huge loss

raven tusk
#

OK, got it. Fraud / refunds are the responsibility of the standard connected Stripe account though yes? It is a bit unclear. When I checked the box you sent me to there are a few pages of complex questions and there was no real option for "we are a Stripe connect platform" and "payments are taken wherever the customer want to place a Stripe Payment Link" and not in a specific app or website or....Like I do not know where the standard Stripe account owner will place the payment link. It might be on a button in Shopify, or on Instagram or in an email campaign or on an HTML page. I checked what made the most sense and submitted for review. Fingers crossed.

yeah sorry the problem is for the connected account, but you're the platform, if multiple of your connected accounts don't understand the rtisk, and lose a lot of money, they will loudly complain to you too. So I'm mostly just warning you. As the platform facilitating the payments, they would turn towards you as the expert of what is best for them

raven tusk
#

Got it. OK. My life is complex. hehe. I will circle back when Stripe processes that request and see if Google Pay disappears.

#

Thank you for your help clearing that up and setting things up correctly so standard account owners connected to our platform have the power to set their own payment methods and not have to use the ones in our platform account.

#

Fun fact: we're working on an API that lets Connect platform control the payment methods for their connected account

#

so you can offer your own UI (or our own iframe UI) to let them control this outside of the Stripe Dashboard (which can be a bit confusing)

#

so that will hopefully make your life easier in the future (long term)

raven tusk
#

i coded this in my UI with checkboxes

#

as a layer over what is enabled in their account and then they can just check the boxes for the payment methods they want and encode it into a specific Payment Link. That is what you are talking about yes? And we just have a lot of logic and then use the Payment Link API.

#

My issue is just you guys move so fast!!!!!!!! Hard to keep up with you since 2016. ๐Ÿ™‚

#

In the Payment Link create flow in our app. I thought it was cool.

#

i drank a lot off coffee one weekend and knocked it out. hehe. OK have a great day! Thank you!!!

#

If you guys are looking for developers, maybe I will need a job when i sell this app cuz I'm kind done with membership plugins!!!!!!
