I don't think so, no. That's a requirement for certain Payment Methods that require mandates, so it is used to help cover the mandate requirement (and likely other things)

Can you confirm that "Payment Element" is the most vanilla (self-coded, I don't want to use "Link") way to accept basic credit card transactions with Stripe?

I'm reading through the docs and a lot of the language around "Payment Intents" seems be connected to future payments / storing credit cards.

I just want the ability to charge the customer once and do not wish to store any of the information.
