I'm fairly certain that if a BACS/SEPA/ACH payment attempt on an initial invoice for a subscription fails then we cancel the subscription.
As for recurring payments, I'm not sure. I'd recommend testing it out with a clock: https://stripe.com/docs/billing/testing/test-clocks
