what do you mean by prorating the remaining balance from a subscription when creating a new Checkout Session?

I'm guessing that you want to cancel the current Subscription, then creating a new Subscription?

if you want to cancel the current Subscription and prorate the cancellation - then when cancelling a Subscription you would set invoice_now=true and prorate=true
