Not immediately sure why but can look in to it. Is there a specific thing you are trying to do with the Payment Element here?

Yeah we wan't to have a "save payment method" option, but it should only show when the customer has selected regular "card", since we're not inrestered in savign any other payment method

We can achieve this by listening to the event, so it works fine, it's just not documented
