possibly the latter I would think, you would need to reach out to Shopify to ask what payment methods they accept in their web store components

actually i asked them and Stripe customer service, haven't received a reply from Shopify, but your customer service has led me to look for help here. 👀

unfortunately they do that but they really shouldn't

you need to ask Shopify ultimately ,they control all this and you're their customer, and it's not really anything to do with Stripe directly

I don't know, I don't work for Shopify so I can't speak to that. We get lots of users asking this same question(supporting alternative non-card payment methods) at least but only they know what their platform supports and what options/betas/alternatives they might have for your use case.
