Yes when an Invoice is finalized it's not edittable anymore. You would want to edit the Subscription before the Invoice is finalized

Do you mean to edit invoice item at "invoice.created"?
I received same error... at that event.

Because the first Invoice is finalized immediately. From the 2nd onward only, the Invoice will have ~ 1 hour of edittable before finalization

If it's the first time, why don't just fix the description when you create the Subscription
