I think that could work for your use case but am still trying to think of the implications (if any) of that workaround.
Another thing that may make sense would be to create a one-off invoice and once that is created you can make a subscription schedule that will start on your desired date and has a "100% off" coupon with a duration of once , which would mean the first month would be "free" on the subscription
Not saying my idea is better necessarily, just posing it as a possibility to consider
Yes I think both the solutions have their caveats
I tried the trial days flow yesterday, I'll try the pause_collection flow once, if that solves the case then great else I'll probably move to the one off invoice with a 100% off coupon for the first month

PS: The only reason why we want to charge the customer on the current date for a future start subscription is that recurring payments might fail and can lead to failure in user capturing. I believe some other companies might also face this, especially while building waitlists. It'll be really nice if stripe can somehow incorporate this functionality inbuilt (in a simpler form) in the future!
