Are there any disadvantages of using this approach if we compare it to the "manual capture" approach where I do a money reservation in the initial stage? Is there an increasing risk of the final payment confirmation being rejected with this approach?
manual capture was the other approach that I was thinking of, the only difference is that in manual capture you need to know the cap (maximum) of what the customer might pay ahead of time since you can't over capture
Ok cool. so I take it as there's no increased risk of payment failure with this approach Thanks a lot for your quick help
actually the payment might need authorization (3DS) even if the authz was done on the Setup Intent
Do you meen authorization when confirming the PaymentIntent? (at the end of the session).
Is that also true when using manual capture?

yes

I think it's less likely
