hey there, whats the bug, and can you explain how i can reproduce it?
You can report to support if you'd like to get any follow up information about it
-
when you first onboard an express account and add an external account, you're allowed to select a currency
-
this overrides what the account's actually currency is. For example, I am able to add a USD bank account but my bank account is actually in CAD
-
But you cannot update the currency OR remove the account in the update drawer, you MUST add another account.
-
and after adding another account, UNLESS you change the default currency back to the correct currency, all accounts will be added incorrectly as the first currency
UNLESS you change the default currency back to the correct currency
Do you mean changing the currency while adding another external account?
ie, the "other" currency is pre-selected?
you cannot change currency while adding another account
It's expected that Canadian account can set up external accounts for payouts in CAD or USD
You can see the supported currencies per account country here:
https://stripe.com/docs/connect/bank-debit-card-payouts#supported-settlement
outside of onboarding
So you need to select the correct currency for the account
Ah, that does seem suboptimal
Also!
once you select that initial currency
I believe it's cached
Removing and re-adding that account will always show incorrect currency
In that second screenshot, in the dashboard
See the currency switcher at the top?
If you change that to CAD, can you add your CAD account?
Gotcha let me try to test that too
I'm not currently given the same onboarding flow as you with the choice of bank account or debit and currency, so my bank account was added with default CAD. I might suggest writing in to support with this, and especially focusing on what you're trying to do that does not work: adding an account in CAD after setting one up in USD, even after using the currency switcher.
OK thanks @floral cedar I'm not sure if this is useful, but I have the examples of ba_xxx discrepancies here.
ba_1MX8ZHFY7a3Kl3ycXjIiqKtu is in CAD
ba_1MX9NQFZHkw4NoeYQQR0KFDo is in USD
and they both have the same fingerprint
