At most, the payment will be held for 48 hours.

The policy is that work that isn't completed within that time will be refunded, or work that is partially completed will be partially charged.

the question we have is whether it's better practice to have a single down payment (the minimum of all services is $25 USD), and then create a separate payment intent for the difference, or to estimate the total cost and then create a hold, on the small chance that the hold amount is less than the actual total, in which case we will have to make two separate payment intents anyway.
