When that happens, you can recollect the mandate but the user will usually need to manually approve this again. Are you using ACH or some other bank payment method?
Also do you know if these inactivations are related to disputes? I think that is the most common thing that will inactivate a mandate
we are using ACH, and we surely don't want to ask for a mandate every time we want to use it. Until now this did not happen and the bank accounts could be used again and again
no, no disputes
You shouldn't need to ask every time, just when the mandate becomes invalid. Are you seeing this that frequently that you can't re-use any mandates?
correct
and our merchants are complaining because they did not dispute anything, and they verified their accounts

can you please explain why that account was made inactive?
Hi there 👋 taking over, as my colleague needs to step away
Give me a few minutes to get caught up.
when I look at that customer, it looks like the bank account still shows as verified! https://dashboard.stripe.com/customers/cus_J7biB0uoqr6sZ3

this is confusing, I need to know what that mandate.updated event is saying has been inactivated
based on the mandate object's status: 'inactive' attribute is indicating "The mandate was rejected, revoked, or previously used, and may not be used to initiate future payments."
That doesn't really explain why it went inactive though. The only thing that seems to have happened with that Customer's Payment Method when this event (evt_1MWfWMBb9dNaU75sgU5r2Tft) fired was that a new payment succeeded.
I need to dig a bit more into this, so I'l circle back in a few minutes
thanks!
I notice on that customer's page that there was a successful payment of the amount mentioned in the mandate (25.31). But from the mandate event it looks like it's the payment method that's now inactive, but it's not. Could the mandate.updated event only have bearing on the payment of 25.31 of a few days earlier? If so, what would a mandate.updated event that informs me the payment method itself is inactive look like?
What are you using to accept payments currently? Stripe Checkout? Elements?
Still working on this. Will get back to you in a few
