Hey @glacial eagle ! Sorry this is a bit confusing. When you use Plaid + default_source, it's using a legacy integration path from many years ago via the BankAccount resource.
We re-designed this API last year entirely and built it on top of the PaymentMethod API via us_bank_account. This integration requires a Mandate to be allowed to debit a bank account.
I'd recommend migrating away from Plaid to our own similar product: https://stripe.com/docs/financial-connections
But otherwise you'll have to collect mandate information, usually you do this by using SetupIntent and passing mandate_data
