Not sure I fully understand, but have you looked into the settings for failed payments on subscriptions here?

So, if subscription is going to renew, an automatic payment is tried by Stripe on customer's default card

if the card does not have funds, the subscription gets status past_due

#

I don't want this to happen immediately, but I want the subscription to be past_due after a period of time
