You are a US account, you have USD. You can't transfer CAD
You have to transfer USD to a connected account and then that will be converted to one of their supported currencies
ok so we are transferring presentment currency rather than settlement
you can't really transfer a currency you don't have. I recommend carefully reading https://stripe.com/docs/connect/currencies first
We are using connected accts and doing charges on behalf of. So we will have CAD balances on our platform account. How do I replenish foreign currencies?

This may be because I'm doing an on behalf of charge so currency is getting converted to USD immediately because the settlement bank on the connected account is USD?
Probably I need to do this with a CAD default account and it would work?
