AFAIK the pricing table is not flexible enough to change it's behavior based on the amount of the Price selected.

Well, it wouldn't have the same visual impact but you could have a Pricing Table embedded for your paid plans but then build your own UI for the free plan with a button that sends the user to a Checkout page with payment_method_collection set to if_required
