Hi there!
Hey soma
Is this a BBPOS WisePOS E?
correct
Can you share the PaymentIntent ID (pi_xxx) you created that you used with the test card?

Thanks. That looks correct to me. If you've had the same issue with multiple test cards, maybe the issue is not the test card but the Terminal itself. Have you tried rebooting it?
it's been power cycled multiple times.
I can do it again if you would like.
Restarting...
FW 2.8.4.0
Have you tried a factory reset?
Nope, how do I do that?
Looks like blue button on the side for 15 seconds.
OK, I've got the prompt up. Do you want me to factory reset it?
The factory reset procedure is detailed below, and will take several minutes to complete:
- Make sure the reader is turned on, is connected to power, and a working network with an Internet connection is available
- Press and hold the two buttons with the blue lines for 10 seconds (there's one on each side of the reader)
- A dialog will appear asking you if you're sure you want to factory reset the device; tap Yes to begin the factory reset
- The screen will go blank, then transition through several other screens as the device erases itself and prepares for the reset
- The reader will indicate it's not connected to the Internet and prompt you to connect to WiFi; tap on Connect to WiFi
- Select a WiFi network, enter the password, and Connect
- Once the WiFi shows as connected, hit the back button in the lower left
- The reader will indicate it's connected and ready to update; tap on the Update button
- The reader will download and install the latest firmware, then prompt you to select a language
- Note: At this point you may encounter a Modify system settings screen. If you do, turn on the Allow modifying system settings switch and then tap on the back button in the lower left to continue
- The screen will go back and forth a couple times, then you'll be prompted to choose a country
- The reader will then download and install the software and configuration for the country you select
- You may see the new black splash screen or the old white splash screen at this point; either way, hold the power button down and then select the Restart option
- After the reader finishes restarting and connecting to the network it should end up on the normal splash screen after a few minutes and be ready to use!
Underway
FW currently 2.3.3.0 before the update. It's downloading the update now.
OK, it's back online after the factory reset. Doesn't look like I have to re-register it.
No luck, exact same behavior.
That's strange... so this reader never managed to work with any test cards? Do you have other Terminal readers or only this one?
I'm tired off these test cards. They just don't work and you've confirmed that I'm not doing anything wrong with my API calls to setup the transaction. This is my only reader and none of the test cards have worked. I'm going to continue with the emulator and then connect up this reader to a live account and just verify it works on a full blow live transaction.
HI 👋 I'm not certain I know what is going on, but I was catching up on this thread when taking over for my teammate.
I think it seems more likely that you received a faulty reader than it is that you received 4 faulty test cards. That repeated beeping that you're encountering when trying to tap doesn't seem right, and I'm working on booting up my reader to do some testing.
I did some testing, and wasn't able to replicate the rapid blinking that you're seeing during the tap step. Below are the steps I would recommend following to try to further narrow down where the issue could be:
- Triple check that your code is running in test mode, check the Payment Intent that you create and ensure it is shown in the test mode portion of your dashboard.
- Trigger your process to put the reader into a state to read a card.
- Tap the test card to confirm it still gives the rapid blinking behavior.
- Try tapping a real card rather than a test card (as long as you're in test mode the payment will not go through as we do not allow test transactions on real cards).
If the real card gives the same rapid blinking behavior, then I would recommend working with our Support team to see if the reader needs to be replaced:

If the real card behaves differently than the test card, then that would be a good indicator that the problem is specific to the test cards.
