If you use a live card do you get the expected "you are using a live card in test mode decline"?
yep, that is the exact error I get
Then that sounds like you have faulty test cards, however that is a real bummer if you are saying you have used three different ones...
Did you receive all the test cards at the same time?
yeah first I had one... then I ordered two more and I've actually got a fourth on the way (the replacement for the first).
I'm wondering if Stripe isn't sitting on an entire batch of test cards that are all messed up.
Yep I was about to say that — I know we did identify a bad batch in the past. But I don't think this happened recently and I thought we contacted folks that were involved in the bad batch (but I'm not positive on that -- I wasn't involved).
Have you spoken to our Support team about this at all? They should send you a new test card so you don't have to pay for one if you identify a faulty one
yeah, I contacted them on the first one and they are sending out a replacement. I haven't received that one yet. I was impatient and spent money ordering two additional ones thinking surely one of the two additional ones would work.
I'm 99% sure I've got all the development done with the emulator (which is great that Stripe has that), but just wanted to do some end-to-end transactions with the real terminal before we rolled it out. I think what I'll do is connect this terminal to a live Stripe account and just do a few transactions with my live card.
Yep that makes sense. When the fourth test card arrives if that also doesn't work please reach out to us here.
Someone might want to unbox a test card from the current lot that is being shipped out and see if you have another bad batch though.
