initially client told me two weeks, but now it's not even clear to them and they're looking for alternative, i know we can update and cancel trial periods, but thought, if pause payments should work in this regard?

customer is charged first month, we put it in pause, product deliver to them lets say 1 week later, we update the 'pause_collection' => '',

I mean pausing payments will stop payments I guess, but it doesn't really solve your billing cycle issue, at some point you still need to control when the next Invoice is created. So that won't really do what you want

a trial lets you control this so that's still the way to do this

We're working on a "real" pause feature but it won't ship any time soon. You're not the only one asking for this
