I only have a payment intent object and id, and when i use it in the source_transaction parameter it throws an error

Ah yeah my bad I didn't realize our code example just said {{CHARGE_ID}}

a PaymentIntent when confirmed successfully will have latest_charge: 'ch_123' if you're on the latest API version, so you can track this
