Interesting. Can he try visiting this page in one tab and your QA site in another? https://stripe.com/docs/stripe-js/elements/payment-request-button
Wondering if they can see the Apple Pay button on the top of our Payment Request Button page
That will help narrow down the issue a bit
I can that link over to him, just as a note though I can see all three buttons in my chrome browser and I don't have Apple Pay enabled on this computer, so I'm not sure how helpful it might be?
Ah no not talking about the image
There should be a button that appears above that or a yellow banner if your wallet isn't set up properly
Oh sorry, I'm terribly mistaken I was looking at the images below. Yes let me send this to him and test it out myself on my computer that does have Apple Pay enabled
I'm in chrome so it's showing gpay
But in safari that should show the apple pay button if the wallet is set up correctly
That's what I see but with Apple Pay, I've just sent him the link.
Waiting to hear back from him, I also unfortunately have to jump into a meeting, probably a bad time for me to start this thread, but I'll try to keep you up to date.
Okay he got back to me and does not see the apple pay button in safari, unless in a private window.
Gotcha. We archive threads after some inactivity, but if this is archived when you come back, just post in the main channel and we can open a new thread
Is there anything he can do to fix this issue since we confirmed he cannot see the Apple Pay button using that link in normal Safari browser
Gotcha. That means it's an issue with his apple pay wallet not an integration issue on your part
We provide these guidelines: https://stripe.com/docs/stripe-js/elements/payment-request-button#html-js-testing
He figured it out, very strange he had to uncheck “Allow websites to check for Apple Pay” from safari preferences. Would you know why that is?
Wouldn’t you think though that you would want that checked though. Curious why it has to be unchecked.
I would just like that knowledge in order to tell him why the behavior is like that
Hm I have that checked and everything works fine
Could be an older version of Safari?
He’s on the newest version of safari from what i know?
I do see it mentioned here:
https://stripe.com/docs/js/payment_request/can_make_payment
Just odd in my opinion, you'd think you would want it enabled, and checking to see if Apple Pay is setup. Any historical* knowledge would be fantastic!
Hi there
Stepping in as codename_duchess needs to step away
My understanding is that this setting conflicts with canMakePayment and the Stripe <> Apple integration.
I don't know much beyond that unfortunately
Hi bismark, it sounds like a bit of an unknown to why they conflict, but I appreciate you let me know what you know. I'll let my teammate know about this uncertainty. Thank you and codename duchess for looking into this.
