Hi there! The only way to do this is in the context of Connect: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/payment-methods/connect#cloning-payment-methods
Hi @tight nacelle ! Thanks for your response! Is it possible for a user who is a Customer of my platform to have the connected account as well?
to be clear, does this mean your team doesn't already use Connect?
that's correct!
We don't use Connect yet
The idea is that customers can make one type of purchases on our platform using their own payment method id but for other purchases they use the payment method of their parent account
Like an employee who buys groceries on their own money but a ticket for a work trip on an employer money
I don't think I follow but it doesn't sound like Connect is what you're looking for in this case.
It sounds like you may want to set that logic outside of Stripe, before a payment is initiated, and then charge the appropriate customer
Good idea as well!
I'll think about this approach to the problem, thanks for you help @tight nacelle !
happy to help!
Just one more question, please! It's written in the docs that a good use case for Connect platform is Shopify. I've never worked with Shopify before but can we say that Amazon web store is a good use case for using Connect platform?
Yep, that's an accurate statement.
Thanks! have a wonderful rest of the day!
Connect can help solve flows where you're collecting payments and paying out to multiple parties
