Hm weird. Can you share a screenshot of the error (blocking out any sensitive data)?
No that's fine. Let me see what I can find.
thank you!
Asking a colleague about this. Will get back to you
ok thanks
Currently messaging with someone who's looking into it. One min
Ok so apparently this was recently changed and is expected behavior. Shortened descriptor is required when changing the support email
There's an internal issue tracker on this and I'll add your feedback about this on it
Since it's a bit unexpected and we probably could improve the UX here
So what should I do?
I very very much need to change the phone number b/c that number is not active
and we are havign issues with disputes on our account
You'll need to set the shortened descriptor
How do you currently set the descriptor via api exactly? That shouldn't affect things really
we send it as a value on payment intent
Right, but do you set the whole statement descriptor on the payment intent? If so, the shortened descriptor won't be used anywhere
no we only set the suffix on payment intent
the statement descriptor that is the company name is set in the dash as you can see from the screenshot
You can just set the shortened descriptor to the same as the full descriptor
That's what's used as the prefix
So if I set both to Revel then it won't show it twice for the transaction?
Correct
If you set the statement descriptor on card charges and don’t set a prefix (shortened descriptor), Stripe truncates the account statement descriptor as needed to set the prefix value. If the account statement descriptor contains fewer than 10 characters, we don’t truncate it.
From above
Sounds good
What's your account ID? Need to add it to the internal issue tracker so I can report this friction
