A customer tried to pay but could not succeed. I cehcked the logs and got "type": "invalid_request_error" with a link to complete the onbarding. When I visited the onboarding link (_https://dashboard.stripe.com/account/onboarding_) nothing happened. So I guess I already was activated.

The body of the 400 message also contained "code": "testmode_charges_only" and I'm not in developer mode or anything. (dev mode worked flawless)

I'd suggest reaching out to Stripe Support - https://support.stripe.com/contact. It looks like there're some pending verifications required on your account which is why you're not able to make live charges. They'll be able to advise you in more detail!
