It's up to you. Adding a coupon is a good solution to add an extra free month or whatever length of time you need

Okay, and the coupon or promo code entered by the customer upon initial subscription checkout could then essentially automate the application of the separate trial lengths to different customers, is that understanding correct?

@mellow knoll is this understanding of how the coupon would work basically correct? Thanks!

If you apply a coupon for a free month, that would be applied after the trial

#

So I guess in a sense it's automatic

Thanks @mellow knoll, some final clarification: So the application of the coupon code would not change the trial period shown to the customer at the initial subscription checkout (i.e., 1 month), but it would say something like "+1 month free" if they inputted a coupon code for a free month, is that correct?

So it would basically be combining the two concepts (trial period and coupon for a subscription invoice) rather than simply presenting the initial trial period as "2 months" for a customer that used a promo code for an extra month. Is that correct? Just want to make sure I understand how it's presented before choosing the approach. Thanks

That's correct

It's up to you though

You can create different trial period lengths for different customers if you want

#

Just depends how you want to handle it. Coupon approach might make sense here though since the standard trial is fixed and you're just offering those customers extra free time
