Hi there! You can use customers from the platform level (and their saved cards) for destination charges or separate charges and transfers
If you need to use the platform-level customers for direct charges, you can clone those customers' payment methods to the connected accounts: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/cloning-customers-across-accounts
I see, thanks for the info! I'm guessing this is approximately the same if I want to use those customers for a subscription in the connected account, right?
It all depends on the charge type you use, ultimately
I recommend this Connect-specific billing doc: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/subscriptions
I'd like to use direct charges if possible
Got it. In that case, yes, you'd follow the same guide above in order to clone customer payment methods to the connected accounts. Then, use direct charges (using the connected account's ID in the request header) to create the subscription on the connected account
thanks! that is a good document. Essentially I want what's described here: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/subscriptions#customer-connected-account, but I want to create those subscriptions for a Customer that we have a record of in the platform account
cool, sounds good. Thank you very much!
sure thing!
so it's ok to create a subscription for a platform-level customer id using direct charge but using a payment method cloned to a connected account from platform-level for recurring-billing subscriptions?
Sorry, this is a clearer guide to follow with regards to cloning: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/payment-methods/connect#cloning-payment-methods
