Hello! Do you have a specific question?
I'd like to help if I can, but I don't understand what help you need.
My question is... what can I do?
All of our data is now incorrect because we moved those users to a free trial (which is what the documentation told us to do)
Hi @finite locust I'm taking over. Can you share with me the link of doc?
Sure thanks @hoary forge https://stripe.com/docs/billing/subscriptions/billing-cycle#using-a-trial-to-change-the-billing-cycle
OK. This doc is about changing a billing cycle. But if I understand your use case correctly, it's just normal annual subscription where your customer pays once a year. I don't see a need to change billing cycle here.
The customer paid in October and the promo was that this would give them access to the product for the rest of this year and all of next year for the normal 12 month price
So their billing cycle was changed to be 12 monthly October-October to 12 monthly Jan-Jan
We made this change after they had paid us so they were active and now are on trial until Jan 2024 so the impact to our data has been huge.
@hoary forge any ideas?
Can you share with me one of the subscription ID?

OK. So you've set the trial_end of this subscription to 12 Jan 2024, so the customer's next invoice will be generated on 12 Jan 2024. The customer is able to enjoy subscription if its status is active or trialing. Am I correct to say that this change impact your metrics because you only consider active subscriptions, but not trialing ones?
That is correct
For things like churn and MRR
All of those users were active but are now trialing
So stripe considers them as not active and our finance team are losing their minds haha
I see. I'm an engineer and I'm not familiar with financial reporting. Can I suggest you to reach out to Stripe support https://support.stripe.com/contact and see if they can give you some advices?
Find help and support for Stripe. Our support center provides answers on all types of situations, including account information, charges and refunds, and subscriptions information. Get your questions answered and find international support for Stripe.
Yeah ok, as an engineer though... can I do anything to those trial accounts to make them active without impacting their subscription end dates?
