Hey apologies for the delay but we are still looking in to this. I think it is one of those cases where only a portion of the tax is charged and that our Invoice isn't explicit about that. My colleagues are still trying to figure this out and we will get back to you with what we can find.

Let me try with an even higher $$$ amount, I recall reading something about Phoenix specifically charging different level of taxes.

Definitely some odd numbers that do not reflect nicely with a flat tax rates

So your initial hint of only a portion of tax being charged sounds correct. Just curious how (as a dev) I would go and explain this to my customers when they show me this invoice 🤔

Yeah, looking more like that on my side too. From what I can tell, we typically try to make our UI clearer on partial exemptions for taxes. I will put in feedback to improve that line items on invoices.

Good question on how you can present this to your users. Looking in to if there is a good field to add a disclaimer or something to in the mean time

You can set custom messages as either the memo or footer for the Invoice. Unfortunately not finding a good way to detect if a given tax rate will be applied like this unfortunately though so it might have to be a blanket note if you think this confusion will happen enough https://stripe.com/docs/invoicing/customize
