Unfortunately, The type is currently required. I don't think there's a way around it.
I can file it as a feature request though as I understand how this might be a limiting factor for certain integrations.

That's a bummer. Coming from the Sources APIs, we were able to quickly sync up customer data with our system.
Adding that as a feature request would be great!

I noticed that too. I have other accounts on that linked page that start with acct_. But the one I posted is for our Connect (standard) Platform account.
