AFAIK the card payment method type is the default and cannot be excluded (currently). I don't think there is another way to do this without writing code.

Thank you. It also seems like you can do it via Subscriptions/Invoices, but it seems that would invoice the client every month, and it would not actually create a recurring payment, unless I misunderstood how that works.

Are you referring to ACH debits or ACH credit transfers?

ACH direct debit supports recurring payments as long as you save the payment method for future use and collect the mandate acknowledgement.

Ok I'll try it again now. When I did it before, it seemed like it was going to just take a single payment and then send an invoice at each billing period

Ah, okay I don't know all the configuration options there. This Discord forum is primarily for developers integrating Stripe APIs. So it might not be possible through the Dashboard.
