Could you explain what you would like to achieve?
I have an account that receives US dollars.
We now want to collect money in the European market.
I don't know if it is possible to receive multiple currencies in the same account.
Can I add a new sub-account to the original account to receive payments from Europe?
If your account is an US account, it supports multiple presentment currencies including EUR: https://stripe.com/docs/currencies?presentment-currency=US
During settlement, it will settle the funds in USD
My account is in Hong Kong.
So, Can I add a new sub-account to the original account to receive payments from Europe?
When you mention sub-account, are you referring to connected account (https://stripe.com/docs/connect) or another standalone account with Stripe?
connected account
If your platform account is a HK and you would like to have an Europe connected account and pay out to it, this is currently not possible.
Cross border payout is only available with US platform account: https://stripe.com/docs/connect/cross-border-payouts
I am an e-commerce merchant and my account is used to receive payments instead of pay out.
Did I misunderstand?
Connected account is for multiple parties and split payment within them.
If your use case is not multiple parties, then you shouldn't use connected account
If you are just simple e-commerce account and would like to receive payment in different currencies, then there are two ways I can think of:
- Use same HK account and receive other presentment currencies that are supported. The funds will be settle to the country currency that your account belongs to: https://stripe.com/docs/currencies?presentment-currency=HK
- Create a new standalone Europe account and settle in the currency that the country supports if you want to split transactions from HK account
No problem! Happy to help 😄 Have a great day to you as well!
