I am updating one subscription cancel_at and what I see is when doing that the current_period_end updates to the cancel_at date.

so, if I do this, can I update the cancel_at to the original period end date?

If you have a monthly Subscription from October 1st to November 1st, and you want it to cancel on November 1st, there's no reason to use cancel_at in that case

I want to cancel that customer subscription from november 1st to october 31st

logically prorates or refunds apply

but if I later decide to restore the cancel_at to the original november 1st I can't

because updating the subscription cancel_at does it for the current_period_end as well

correct, you can't really undo it unfortunately it will mess a bit with the billing cycle

my advice is to really just let the period end. That's what almost all businesses do
