You can't use Product object (prod_xxx) with any of our Billing surfaces, they all expect a Price object

Plans are deprecated, but interoperable with Prices. You should only use/create Plan objects if a legacy integration

I know that Plans are deprecated but I'm not sure about the second part of the sentence.

My understanding is that we'd have to switch our system to using prices instead of plans and then we could use scheduling. Or is there any kind of "trick" we could do to use plans with scheduling?

You should be able to use Plan objects with Subscription Schedules
