Have you tried without the trial to see if that changes anything?

The description of the attribute in the API docs says that appears on Stripe surfaces. I’m expecting it to show up somewhere on the Hosted Checkout page.

Got it. That parameter is not surfaced on the Checkout page (but in the Dashboard, etc)

Depending on what you want to display the line item will show the description field on the related Product object: https://stripe.com/docs/api/products/object#product_object-description

Otherwise you can't currently inject custom text onto the Checkout page, but this is something top of mind for us
