Hmm we have looked at the second one

we're looking at purchasing one but this is pretty confusing to us

we want to be able to take payment from people with a card reader

Terminal requires programming experience with Javascript, iOS, Android or server-driven depending on the integration mode you choose. There is not an out of box experience and you would need some developer experience to get it working.
