When you tried from the connected account itself, were you logged in as that account or did you go to their page as the platform and click "view dashboard as" from there?

I am actually not sure if the platform can modify SSN here as you are using standard accounts. We protect a lot of user data from platforms.

Is the end goal for your platform to be able to set this or is that just how you are testing?

As a platform you can't update the SSN of a Standard Connected Account

understood, i just saw that 0000 works for sucessful verification tests, so i will retry my test process using that

Yes, with Standard accounts the connected account merchant controls all of their verification themselves.

As the platform you just create the account and send them through the onboarding flow initially
