An upcoming Invoice is when you preview the next Invoice before it's created

In what you described, the Invoice exists already and is in draft

at that point it won't be modified, it needs to be paid. When the customer goes and switches to a different Price, we will prorate based on the assumption the existing Invoice will be paid in the future, even if it hasn't been paid yet
