When creating a subscription with a subscription schedule, the first invoice will be in draft mode. So you can retrieve the invoice and update its description with https://stripe.com/docs/api/invoices/update

Why do subscription shedules act different to subscriptions in terms of how they are setup

subscriptions are not active until the first payment is made, whereas subscription schedules they are active immediatley correct?
