Hi there! Yes you can work internationally with Stripe Connect
Oh that's good to know
I need to set up anything special to be able to do that?
because some sellers of my marketplace will not be from US
and they need to be paid as any other users
Well it mostly depends on what type of Connected Accounts and charge flow you are using
But overall, no, you don't have to do anything special provided you are using one of the supported flows
Is your platform in the US?
Yes it is
Ok, that's great to know
I have other question:
Can I make an authorization to capture and only when the seller accept the offer I charge it? In that way we'll be able to minimize the rejected offers without paying too many fees
Yep, we support Auth & Capture: https://stripe.com/docs/payments/place-a-hold-on-a-payment-method
You can mostly authorize for up to 7 days
great to know
Last thing
What type of Connected Accounts shoud I use to be able to setup sub-accounts to foreign accounts as well?
Well if you want access to the most international countries then you want to use cross border payouts (https://stripe.com/docs/connect/cross-border-payouts) which is for Express or Custom accounts
Thank you so much!
Of course!
Hmmm Brazil may not be supported on Cross Border Payouts yet.
Give me a sec to check on the status of Brazil
Ah okay yeah so Express/Custom isn't supported in Brazil yet.
You'd have to use Standard Accounts with Brazil
Which would require a bit of a different charge flow than using Cross Border Payouts
got it
How the Standard Accounts works? Can you clarify it for me?
We really want to open for Brazilians too, it's a huge market that we are already in touch
Well, whose information does the end-customer expect to see when they pay. Your platform or the Connected Account merchant?
Our platform
Okay then yeah you won't really want to use Standard accounts here
Standard Accounts would be for if the customer was paying your Connected Merchant directly
Got it
If it requires some changes we'll do it, we just can't lost the BR market tbh
which is the best flow to keep using stripe?
Yes
Well the simplest integration would be using Stripe Checkout
But if you want to embed your payments form in your website then you would use Stripe Elements
The thing is, we are working on the marketplace that sellers should be able to check their wallets and make the withdraw with stripe
Stripe Checkout does require a redirect to our hosted page
Yeah I got it but, the seller will keep with the control of their funds in that way?
I'm asking specially for BR accounts
Can you explain what you mean by that?
In terms of the "keeping control of their funds"
Sure, we're building a kind of wallet for the sellers
Well, I'll try to get the dev team here
They will be able to explain better probably
haha
A wallet for the Connected Account merchants or the end-customers?
for connected account merchants
Hmm well you wouldn't hold funds in your platform at all with Direct Charges + Standard Accounts
Probably what would be best is if you can lay out the ideal fund flow (how does money move around from end-to-end with your integration) and then we can help with how to best accomplish that
