👋 Hi there, Happy to help!
In deed, the hold on card may take up to 7 days as mentioned in the documentation:
https://stripe.com/docs/payments/place-a-hold-on-a-payment-method#cancel-authorization:~:text=For card payments%2C the amount is on hold for up to 7 days
Let me check further if that can be shorten
For the delay, Stripe has no control on it and there is no API option to force the cancellation of the authorization immediately, because it depends on the card's bank issuer and it varies from bank to bank
Thanks for this. Is there any way to reduce the length of the hold when we create it? It said 7d by default but I could not see anywhere to alter that?
No there is not unfortunately, as I said, it depends to the card's bank issuer
even at the point of creation? I mean not subsequent to when we attempt a cancellation.
Yes even that
OK, thanks. Is there any info on what sort of response to expect from which providers, or no such data exists?
I think it's quite complicated and don't know much about that honestly, because it depends and varies from bank to bank
